Start Up

Fashion Photography.  I never thought this would become one of my interests until I met Kwesi of Justice Talent Agency.  I had agreed to help out a friend who needed images for his modeling portfolio.  I knew it was going to be a big deal when on the drive to the studio I got a call from my friend asking if I had lighting equipment.  The agent wanted to know.  The answer was no.  I had come prepared with my Nikon D40, no flash, no backdrops and completely at a loss as to how to take modeling shots.  I was trained in photojournalism where only the bare minimum changes to a photograph are acceptable.  Kwesi, Justin's agent introduced himself to me and simply stood back and let me work.

The first few shots turned out surprisingly well.  We used a mirror to reflect light from outside a window onto Justin's face and messed with the available lighting, scouted out the hip office building we had to ourselves since it was a Saturday which allowed for many unique backgrounds, and ended up with over two hundred images.  Since Justin is my buddy I felt free to tell him where to stand and how to hold his face so that his best features were showcased.  Afterwards we looked at the images together and Kwesi asked me to work with him as one of his fashion photographers.

My images are now being showcased on www.jmodelsandtalent.ning.com where I have my own page under the photographers section.  I have been shooting Kwesi's newest recruits, fashion shows, make up and hair styles.
